‘Arunan’s Farm’ showcases a new collection of brightly coloured digital drawings created by Arunan Dharmalingham - an Artist living with Autism. The artworks are a strong insight into Arunan’s world and celebrate his fondness for nature, animals and agriculture.
About the Artist
Arunan Dharmalingam, a Sydney-based artist living with Autism, communicates his world through art. With a deep visual sensitivity and limited verbal abilities, art becomes his voice, expressing his thoughts, feelings, and interests to those around him.
Since childhood, Arunan has been captivated by animals, a passion nurtured by visits to farms and zoos. His artistic journey has focused on these beloved creatures, capturing their essence in his work.
Embracing digital technology for over a decade, Arunan has honed his craft on a Wacom Cintiq tablet using Adobe Photoshop. This medium has been instrumental in developing his distinctive style, marked by clear, simple lines and a thoughtful approach to color.
Recently, Arunan has dedicated himself to creating dynamic farm scenes. These compositions, crafted with love and precision, start with a grey horse and a rhino at the centre and radiate outward to a vibrant tapestry of animal life. Each scene is a bustling ecosystem: a banana tree offers shelter and sustenance; chickens nest and lay eggs; birds soar overhead.
His latest series, 'Arunan’s Farm', is a culmination of his most impressive farm scenes created in 2023. Each piece is a story, with titles hinting at the unique elements and creatures inhabiting these lively landscapes. Reflecting the changing seasons and times of day, his farm evolves with each new creation, inviting viewers to engage with his unfolding narrative—a narrative that resonates with audiences of all ages.
