In the orchard No.4 (2022)

The Art Program is delighted to present the first rotation of exhibitions in the 2025 exhibition season, with five new displays filling the corridors of the Hospital from March - May 2025.

Brilliant artists, generous patients, and in-hospital friends and partners have contributed to our exhibition program, each with unique perspectives that invite the viewer to explore, reflect, and celebrate through diverse artistic encounters.

Some of the artworks on display are available to purchase, with a portion of each sale donated to the Foundation. If you would like to purchase one of these incredible pieces, please contact the Art Programby phone1800 770 122 or emailart@schf.org.au.

Exhibition: Free To Be

Taking inspiration from the 2025 Sydney LGBTIQA+ Mardi Gras theme, "Free to Be" is a celebration of being unapologetically who you are! Featuring artworks by patients, families and staff of the SCHN, this collection reflects the vibrant spirit of our hospital community and is a celebration of the strength found in diversity.

Exhibition: In the Orchard

I grew up on a farm with a stone fruit orchard and many animals. These colourful, whimsical paintings are inspired by my imagination and memories of childhood. Long days picking fruit, climbing trees, playing and having adventures with my siblings on the farm. Daydreams of my happy place.

Operation Art is an annual exhibition celebrating its 29th Anniversary this year. These 50 artworks created by students across New South Wales will tour the state before finding their home at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, where they will help make sick children feel better through the power of art.

Operation Art is an initiative of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in partnership with The NSW Department of Education. For information on how your school can get involved in the exhibition program, student visual arts workshops and teacher professional learning, please visit The Arts Unit website.

Now in its fourth year, the Photo Finish Digital Photography Competition invited patients, volunteers, visitors, and staff from across Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN) to submit uplifting and cheerful photographs taken on a smartphone, to help brighten our hospital walls.

Entries were judged across three categories and two age categories for under 18s.

My Best Friend

I have chosen to paint the dogs of Sydney Children's Hospital staff and patients for this series because they represent pure joy and companionship in our lives. And we all need sparks of joy in our lives.

Each portrait captures the unique personality of these animals - from their expressive eyes to their playful smiles.

These works are inspired by seeing how dogs bring gentle comfort to people. I hope that patients, staff and visitors can find moments of peace through these portraits
