There were periods of time when my belongings were in transit. Crossing the seas. Home is where your stuff is as the saying goes, but I found that I preferred to have less objects and it was more about where I was and the people I surrounded myself with.
This collection covers the idea of place and belonging in the worlds I’ve created. It was more about what we come to expect in an ideal world and the things that make it. I hope to bring about bright and vibrant places that are all-encompassing, inclusive, and dynamic.
I’ve always said it is never a where’s Wally moment when viewing my work, but a what can I see moment? What do I want to see moment? What story is emerging in this moment, as on a different day that story changes, does it not?
We always stop to immerse ourselves in something relatable. A moment where we feel we are not alone in this circumstance. My work doesn’t paint one picture. It speaks to everyone as if writing their stories. We can see many stories and plot twists, it may be personal, it may be something that moves us, it may be something that persuades us into a different way of thinking, it is a conversation between the viewer and the work itself. It is enticing to those that choose to open their minds to the exploration of self.
Less is more doesn’t exist in my world. I choose to overdo; more is more and that is okay.
