Ausgrid helps give sick kids the brightest Christmas possible

Day 1 - Ausgrid

Ausgrid has been generous supporters of Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation since 2003.  In 2022 they have generously supported us again by becoming the first ever presenting partner of Lights for Kids, the major fundraising initiative as part of the Light up Xmas Appeal.

Ausgrid is an electricity distribution company which owns, maintains and operates the electrical networks supplying 1.8 million customers servicing more than 4 million people in Sydney, the Central Coast and Hunter regions of New South Wales, Australia.

As part of their generous partnership with us Ausgrid has also provided a range of safety tips for the festive season.

  • Always inspect Christmas lights before switching on to ensure they are intact and safe. Frayed cords and broken bulbs can cause serious damage.
  • Christmas lights can present hidden dangers. Don't overload power points or power boards by piggybacking double adaptors.
  • When putting up Christmas lights outside, always stay well clear of overhead wires and ensure your ladder is set up on flat, stable ground.
  • Only use outdoor Christmas lights outdoors and indoor Christmas lights indoors. Use tape, cable ties or clamps to attach lights, never use nails.
  • Check your safety switch in your meter box and make sure your smoke detectors are working properly before putting up any Christmas lights. Always switch off and unplug Christmas lights when it rains, before leaving home or going to bed.

We thank Ausgrid for their generous support again this year to help give sick kids the brightest Christmas possible.
