Nutritional supplements brand, Bio Island began their unwavering support of SCHF and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in 2017, partnering with us to go all in for the health and well-being of sick and injured children.
As a company that advocates for a health and active lifestyle, the partnership with The Children’s Hospital Institute of Sports medicine (CHISM) was a synergistic match. As a direct result of their generous funding and support, the CHISM clinic has supported patients with chronic illness and musculoskeletal issues as well as extend their service offering, through the creation of the Kids Concussion Service (KCS).
CHISM and KCS are the only dedicated paediatric sports medicine and concussion clinics in Australia – generously supported by Bio Island.
Over the years, the team at CHISM and KCS have been able to share their learnings on many local, national, and international platforms. Their specialist knowledge in the world of paediatric sports and exercise medicine, and concussion is highly respected. Their expertise and learning have helped advance these areas of medicine and they are often invited to present at conferences and other peer forums – ensuring their knowledge is extended to the wider medical community.
In 2021 alone, the team had 18 abstracts and 4 papers published in peer-reviewed journals. They have also been selected to run a workshop at the National Brain Conference in June 2022 and speak and present at the prestigious 6th Concussion Consensus Congress, Amsterdam in October 2022. Held every four years, the Congress is akin to the Olympic Games of the concussion world.
Throughout their journey, Bio Island have been right by their side, sharing stories and advocating for their amazing work.
Bio Island have worked with SCHF and the team at CHISM to produce some fabulous video messages on Drowning, Concussion, Heat Illness and Exercise to create awareness, provide tips and encourage a healthy & active lifestyle for all, truly demonstrating that Bio Island are all in for kids' health!
Innovative thinking and a keen determination to support patients, especially through the recent COVID-19 lockdowns, has led to the development of a mobile app and a Virtual Reality Assessment tool – so patients can be supported anywhere, anytime. All of this has only been made possible through the support of Bio Island.
Over the years, Bio Island have also chosen to widen their support to other fundraising efforts of SCHF. This has included City2Surf, Radiothon, Volunteering and product donations, as well as involvement as a proud matching partner for the Sydney Sick Kids Appeal and Light Up Xmas Appeal in 2021.
If your organisation would like to further explore how you can become a partner to a particular ward, department or has a special interest in disease, illness, or injury, we would love to meet and discuss further how your organisation can go all in for kids’ health.
