City2Surf runners at Bondi beach

After two long years of cancellations and lockdowns, it was so exciting to see over 2,132 of you running for Team SCHF in the City2Surf this August.

Together, we raised over $545,000 for sick kids being treated across Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network. We are so thankful to everyone involved who helped raise this incredible amount!

Each person who dusted off their running shoes to tackle the 14 kilometres from Sydney CBD to Bondi Beach had their own reason for supporting SCHF, and we are so grateful to every single one of you who went all in for sick kids.

For Patrick, running for SCHF was an opportunity to help other families receive the same extraordinary care that he did as a child.

Born with a bilateral cleft palate, Patrick was a patient and a regular visitor to the The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Throughout his childhood, Patrick was seen by a multidisciplinary team of speacialists.

Speech pathologists, plastic surgeons, and ENT specialists all worked together to help repair Patrick’s condition and improve his speech.

“Running City2Surf has always been on the bucket list, so when the physical event returned after two years of being virtual, I thought this was the perfect time to take part and run for a cause I’m so passionate about,” says Patrick.

“On the day, everyone was smiling. To see so many fellow fundraisers run for Team SCHF and other causes brought me so much happiness. It was a day to remember!”

Next year, City2Surf will return to the streets of Sydney on Sunday 13 August 2023.
