Lights for Kids

It’s almost that special time of year again when families travel near and far to see the best light displays our state has to offer. From glistening reindeers and candy canes to Santa’s sleighs, it’s the glow of Christmas lights that brings the festive spirit out of all of us.

In 2022, Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation (SCHF) was thrilled to have 102 light displays dedicated to our Lights for Kids campaign. Among them was Western Sydney’s very own ‘Griswolds’, the Le Roux family, who once-again have started decorating their houses to help give sick kids the brightest Christmas possible.

Across their two homes, the father-son duo have a dazzling light display of over 40,000 Christmas lights! This year, Graham and his son Garth plan on adding even more to their collection so they can take the spectacle to greater heights.

But as all avid light displayers know, the preparation is no easy feat with all the hard work and labour taking months to set up. Graham says the effort ‘is all worth it,” with his 28-year-old display attracting families for generations and becoming a local phenomenon.

Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation is excited to share all Christmas light enthusiasts like Graham and Garth can now register their house, street or workplace for this year’s Lights for Kids campaign.

Funds raised through Lights for Kids will support our Christmas Appeal, helping give sick kids across NSW and beyond the brightest Christmas possible.
