Western Earthmoving (WEM) is a family run business that employs more than 250 staff including multiple generations of families and staff that have been with them for over 40 years.  For WEM, their people and culture of the company is what they attribute their success.  WEM set the bar pretty high with their standard and are such an exemplary way to run a business.  It shows that doing the right things by your people will lead to success in all manors of life, and we are so proud to be a partner of theirs.

WEM have been a major part of so many events with SCHF, everything from Corporate Volunteering to Radiothon, Light Up Xmas Appeal to an Oesophageal Atresia (OA) Greenlight Project in honour of the WEM family.

The OA Project was to fund and publish a Medikidz book which is a global initiative set up by doctors to explain medical information to children. The Medikidz are a group of five superheroes from Mediland, a giant living planet shaped like the human body. Each one is a specialist in different parts of the body. The characters are designed to entertain young readers, while also educating them about serious medical issues.  WEM’s commitment saw this project come to life and the book is now available not just in Australia but overseas and translated into many languages.  We have received much feedback from as far as the Philippines as to how this book has helped families all over the world.

WEM have also generously created a brilliant driveway for CHW to ensure not only that we can host fun outdoor events, but also so that safety & emergency vehicles have proper access to the Hospital.  The driveway will remain, and the new hospital plans have been made around this keep this for access to both old and new buildings.

WEM always bring heaps of fun to events held at the hospital like Radiothon where they created a carnival sideshow alley with games complete with prizes for all that play.  They bring their team to participate, dress up and even take part in facepainting by some of the patients at the hospital.  They are the first to put their hand up in support to go all in for kids health.

Most recently WEM have committed $1.15million in support of the redevelopment project to support the Parents & Carers space.  This space will be fitted out with some additions to make sure families have what they need to still look after themselves when spending time in hospital looking after a sick little one.

We look forward to the future of this amazing partnership as we grow together.
