Disney Helps Reimagine the Patient Experience
Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation is proud and excited to have teamed up with The Walt Disney Company to help reimagine the patient experience for sick and injured children and their families. In an Australian first, Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead has brought the positive power of Disney characters and stories into their halls to help kids in hospital smile, laugh and play.
The Walt Disney Company is committed to delivering joy and comfort to children facing serious illness and the people who care for them. This legacy of support for kids and families began with Walt Disney himself, who would visit with children in hospitals, often accompanied by Disney characters and animators.
In 2018, Disney built on Walt’s legacy by announcing a $100 million global commitment to help reimagine the patient experience in children's hospitals.
Since then, together we have created a program that brightens our hospitals and delivers joy to staff, families and patients all around Australia.
Disney Comforts Kids in Hospital
Disney works with children’s hospitals and paediatric places of care around the world, creating distinctly Disney experiences that deliver moments of joy when they’re needed most. Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation and Disney both recognise the stressful and anxiety-inducing experiences children and families can undergo whilst in hospital and healthcare settings.
Disney's over 300 interactive murals, magic art, magic windows and digital activations offer patients and their families distinctly Disney experiences that deliver moments of joy when they’re needed most. Disney is using the best of its storytelling, beloved characters and creativity to create a more personal and comforting experience for children.

Disney’s efforts include transforming hospital spaces with imaginative installations like interactive murals and digital displays, creating personalised moments by delivering care packages and products; creating new memories by providing complimentary access to Disney+ and special screenings of newly released movies; and supporting children’s hospital staff by providing Disney-themed staff badges and patient experience training opportunities globally.

Disney Mobile Movie Theatre
Inspired by the cinema on Main Street, USA at Disneyland Resort, the mobile movie theater offers patients and their families a place to gather, create memories, and watch complimentary Disney movies.
Care Packages
Disney care packages are filled with fun activities and keepsakes such as journals, playing cards, and kaleidoscopes, helping children to pass downtime in their hospital rooms.
