The 100km Club
Join the 100km Club: A Run for Bear Cottage!
Hey there, awesome friends and fellow runners! ?
As October approaches, we’re gearing up for something truly special—the 100km Club Charity Run! This is your chance to lace up those running shoes, hit the pavement, and help make a difference in the lives of some incredible families facing unimaginable challenges.
But what’s the 100km Club all about? Well, it’s simple! Throughout the month of October, we’ll be running a collective 100 kilometers to raise funds for Bear Cottage, a children’s hospice in New South Wales. ??
What is Bear Cottage?
Bear Cottage is more than just a hospice; it’s a haven for families navigating every parent’s worst nightmare. They provide respite, symptom management, end-of-life care, and after-death care for children from birth to 18 years with life-limiting and terminal conditions. This isn’t just about medical support; Bear Cottage also offers vital psychosocial care for parents, siblings, and grandparents, ensuring that everyone gets the emotional support they need during these challenging times.
There are no costs to the families who rely on Bear Cottage. The last thing these families should worry about is money. The operating costs of Bear Cottage are $4 million a year, relying on the generosity of our amazing community and corporate supporters to keep their doors open and their services available.
The Heart Behind the Run
Guy and Hannah Loadsman, the proud parents of three beautiful young children—Phoenix, Ellery, and Rocky—are leading the charge. While their family hasn’t faced painful health challenges, they are inspired to support those who do. They want to remind themselves, and their kids, how blessed they are every day and how hard life can be for others.
By running 100km this October, they aim to show their support for families going through the worst nightmare of their lives. It’s a heartfelt reminder to all of us about the privilege of health and the power of community. Let’s show these families that we care, we’re thinking of them, and we stand with them in their struggles.
