Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation (SCHF) celebrated an incredible turnout at Walk for Kids with Cancer, with more than 1043 participants hitting the pavement on Sunday 23 March 2025. A record-breaking $512,741, and counting, was raised for children diagnosed with cancer across NSW and beyond.

In its 18th year, Walk for Kids with Cancer has firmly established itself as SCHF's hallmark community event, raising over $3M since its inception. The scenic journey, stretching from the heart of the Sydney CBD (24km) and Middle Head (10km) to the finish line at Balgowlah Heights, is not only a test of endurance but a powerful testament of solidarity and hope in our shared fight against childhood cancer.

Patient family members, Teddy and his family, proudly cut the starting line ribbon in honour of the 1,000 children and young people diagnosed with cancer every year in Australia. Their healthcare journey highlights the crucial role of community fundraising. Two-year-old Teddy was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in 2023 and thankfully, accessed a groundbreaking clinical trial supported by SCHF.
Teddy's mum, Anna says, “We were so proud to join the walk and raise over $53,000 for SCHF. It takes a community to get kids through cancer, and it’s thanks to the generosity of SCHF supporters that our little boy was able to receive treatment proven to be less toxic and more effective. We hope our fundraising helps the next family living through this nightmare.’’
Volunteers at Walk for Kids with Cancer

Funds raised at Walk for Kids with Cancer will continue supporting oncology patients, clinicians and researchers across Sydney’s two children’s hospitals - Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick and The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

On behalf of the countless families, like Teddy and Anna, who will benefit from the incredible success of Walk for Kids with Cancer, thank you. Your support can help kick-start world-first programs, find faster ways to diagnose and treat childhood cancer, support clinical trials for kids like Teddy, build clinical and patient family-centred spaces in hospitals, and create positive patient experiences for kids and their families.

A special mention to this year's Presenting and Major Partners, Heartland Motors and the Audi Foundation, for doubling fundraisers’ donations and supporting the event.
