Let's support the Commercial Travellers ward at Sydney Children's Hospital Westmead!

Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation supports Australia's leading paediatric health services, offering a safe and friendly healing environment for children from NSW and beyond. 

A little closer to our hearts is the Commercial Travellers ward, which looks after children with diseases of the brain, spine and muscles. The CT ward specializes in severe neurological disorders such as intractable epilepsy, paralysis, brain inflammation, encephalitis, and brain tumours. The dedicated staff has enabled ground breaking procedures, including the world's first gene therapy for muscular dystrophy in a child and gene therapy for a severe genetic form of epilepsy, a first outside the US. It's the sole ward in Australia for children on continuous intravenous therapy for status epilepticus and houses one of the largest epilepsy monitoring units in the country. Celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the Stereo-EEG program, the ward has been a pioneer in this field, offering life-saving and curative epilepsy surgery for children previously deemed intractable. The focus remains on providing top-notch care while prioritizing the needs of patients and families.
