Back yard Ultra

A Backyard Ultra is a type of ultramarathon race with a unique and challenging format. The event is essentially a last-person-standing race where participants run a loop of a predetermined distance, typically 4.167 miles (6.7 kilometers), every hour. Here's how it typically works:

1. Loop Distance: The loop is usually around 4.167 miles (6.7 kilometers), which is chosen because it means that completing 24 hours of running equals exactly 100 miles.

2. Hourly Rounds: Every hour, participants must complete the loop within that hour. After finishing the loop, they have the remainder of the hour to rest, eat, and prepare for the next loop.

3. Elimination: If a runner fails to complete the loop within the hour, they are disqualified. The race continues until only one runner remains who is able to complete the loop within the hour.

4. Duration: The race continues as long as there are participants who can meet the 4.167-mile requirement within the hour. The last runner standing is declared the winner.

5. No Set Distance: Unlike traditional ultramarathons with set distances, the Backyard Ultra format focuses on endurance and strategy, testing not only physical stamina but also mental toughness and pacing.
